MOOC Module: Orienting in the information landscape
Module 3: Introduction, Instruction and Objectives
In this module you will learn about the finding and gathering of information as well as the
effective use of relevant information sources and tools, in order to find specific targets. You will also improve
your task and time management skills, and develop a proactive approach to searching and
gathering in order to prevent information overload.
Learning outcomes
- to know relevant information resources
- to be able to use a variety of sources including social networks, contacts, databases, etc.
- to use digital tools effectively
- to find and access information (on the defined topic or a task)
- to demonstrate the ability and strategy to find a specific target (source, information, person,group)
- to consider the appropriateness of information and information sources and to identify key
sources of information relevant to the task - to manage information (what to do with search results)
- to be able to reframe a search when needed, according to the reflection on usage of search
strategies - to become an independent learner and a lifelong learner
